I just purchased the air cleaner after losing sleep for several nights due to severe seasonal allergies. While desperately researching air cleaners, and groggy from having popped multiple antihistamines, I came across an on-line article in a popular consumer magazine.

Based upon the magazine’s review, I initially went looking for a $500 air cleaner, figuring the cost of operation justified the additional expense. When I could not find that particular model in any retail outlet, I decided to purchase the , which was also one of the top rated air cleaners. I am so happy I stumbled across this one instead.

The AQS35 costs $56 more than the magazine’s top rated model per year to operate, when you consider filter and electricity costs, assuming you run the cleaner 24 hours per day, which does not seem to be necessary. However, the was priced $350 less than the magazine’s preferred air cleaner. That means I’d have to keep the top rated model for over 6 years before I’d make out on the operating discount. With the advances in technology, odds are I’d be shopping for a new air cleaner before then in any case.

I appreciate the versatile design on this model. The back is flat and fits nicely against any wall. Many others are round, or rounded, which makes placement a challenge. The hand grips make transporting the cleaner from one room to the next, virtually effortless. While the grill comes off easily enough, I’ve not had the same problem with the front grill, as another reviewer had mentioned. Mine seems to lock in to place just fine.

The comes with both a HEPA filter and 3 carbon pre-filters, which help to not only clean the air, but also eliminate odors. HEPA filtration is generally preferred to ionic air cleaning, due to lower levels of ozone, which can exacerbate allergies and asthma. HEPA filtration is also more effective against the smallest of airborne irritants than its ionic counterparts.

The biggest drawback of the is the noise, which does not present a significant problem for me. I prefer some white noise when I sleep. Besides, after a 30 minute quick clean, the machine can be turned to a much quieter setting, with no loss of air quality. And that 30 minute quick clean really does work!

As one reviewer indicated, the really does make the air noticeably cleaner, and it does so in pretty short order. I would not have believed you could instantaneously notice this, but you definitely can.

I had previously tried other air cleaners, with no noticeable improvement in air quality. However, I have not lost sleep to allergies since I purchased the air cleaner. In fact, I haven’t so much as sneezed while inside. Although allergies continue to plague me outside my home, this air cleaner has at least restored my comfort level inside my home. I’m just waiting for that next BB%26B coupon to purchase a second one.
