But does it work: YES You can tell when you wipe the blades clean. It’s easy to clean -simply wet a rag or paper towel and then wipe dry.
Is it quiet? YES. But when you turn on the fan - it’s noisy. There are three levels - low, medium and high. I put mine on high and it’s on 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This machine does make a hissing noise when it cleans the air or when the blades are dirty. The UV is supposed to disinfect the germs. Once you clean the blades the machine will stop hissing, but give it time.
I have two of these machines since my room is about 500 sq feet.
My sinuses are gone and the room does indeed smell fresher.
I have another old machine which is also an XJ surround air; there is a slight smell of the “ozone” air - but it goes away after a few minutes.
I have dogs and cats and it does catch all the pollen etc.
I believe this machine is a good buy for someone that is on a budget but need a purifier that is silent and efficient.
Oh - and you don’t need to buy any filters so that’s a bonus.
I’ve had these machines for about two years now. I noticed that in time, the blades get a black coat around it which you have to pretty much scrape off. I recommend cleaning it regularly like once every two weeks. If you don’t the black stuff gets stuck and it is really hard to clean out. You will eventually have to get a new machine or new blades.
