I received this unit from my uncle. It was new,never opened . I was thrilled to think my allergies would be alleviated with the famous ““. I wasn’t sure how these units worked,but surely my air would be cleaner and healthier. I also looked forward to not having to buy filters,like I had for my Holmes unit air purifier..

I placed the in the hallway next to the study where I was reading the manual. After about 10 minutes, I then noticed my breathing becoming more difficult ,and my chest tightening,and thought maybe I was allergic to something in the room. I then proceeded to read the manual,and finally,after a few minutes, came to the part where it said that you should check with your physician if you have heart problems or asthma,or something to that effect. I realized then that it was the unit causing my problems !

The store did take it back and gave me a store credit on it since I didn’t have a receipt. The clerk told me that only .05 % of people have an allergy to the ozone produced by the ionization. I wonder how accurate those results were ? When I proceeded to shop around to use my store credit, I then felt my throat getting tight and difficulty breathing . I noticed then that MANY of the display units were turned on. I told the clerk that I couldn’t shop because I couldn’t stay long enough to breathe comfortably. He suggested that I could order from the internet if I wished,and use my credit there.

He also said that the newer units have an ozone guard,that gets rid of the ozone smell. If that was the case,why was I still having a reaction to the new units that were running ?

The other thing that would have bothered me if I had kept it ,was that the manual states not to let children stare into the blue ultraviolet light. If you have children or grandchildren in the house ,that would be difficult to enforce. The Germicidal Protection that is produced may have also contributed to my symptoms. Either that or the ozone produced gave a very strong odor that was causing my breathing difficulties.

I realize this is ’s bread and butter selling these units,but the unknown and unforeseen risks for some people is certainly not worth the price. I’ll stick to my Holmes unit that works fine without any risks.
