I was hooked by the TV ads for certain ionic air cleaners, and spent large dollars for two of them. Major mistake. As a matter of fact, dust would actually accumulate ON them. So much for cleaning the air! I finally went to Consumer Reports and found the Kenmore 83202 (335 CADR) air purifier. Bought two at Sears, on sale for $269 each. Have had for a little over a week, and the results are amazing. Haven’t been able to breathe this well in ages. My wife and I both have allergies, and these units have helped greatly. The units will cover about 500 square feet each, so they work just fine for our condo. They are a little loud at the highest speed, but since they are very efficient, we normally use them at medium speed in the daytime (very quiet), and make use of the 8 hour timer at night. (Push a button, and the unit powers down to the “low” setting for eight hours, then automatically powers up to whatever setting you previously had). All the controls are easy to use and straight-forward. Getting at the filters is easy and uncomplicated; push two buttons and lift off the front of the unit. No extra gimmicks. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants cleaner air to breathe. Yes, it’s larger than those little ionic units, but it’s effective. It does the job. We couldn’t ask for any more.
