I wasn’t expecting much when I paid $19.99 for this IZ-270 ionizer to be honest. I figured the price was right and I might as well give it a shot. I paid 15 times this units price for a Quadra, which I like, but didn’t want to fork over $350 to purify the air in my other rooms.

I have pets and smoke. I’ve tried HEPA units but they didn’t help with the smoke odors, even a $500 IQ Air with carbon, UV etc. The Ionic breeze works for odors, but it’s overpriced. I put the first Ionic Zone I bought in my computer room. I used it as a smokeless ashtray but it also did a great job of getting rid of the residual smoke in the air. The negative ions also helped me feel alert and refreshed alter into the day I noticed. And it didn’t take long to figure out this thing works. Within minutes I could tell a difference. I then went back and bought 5 more units for $100 and spread them around the home. My friends notices a difference when they entered my home, the air smelled much fresher they all said.

Besides the price, I like the ease of cleaning this unit. It has a cartridge that pops out and can be tossed in the dishwasher. The instructions say every month but I clean my weekly and that seems to keep the units working “like new”. My quadra has wires that buzz over time unless I get in there and clean them, which I do, but it’s a hassle. So the Ionic Zone also scores points on the ease of use.

Overall, I’d say this unit is way under priced at $20, but I’m not complaining. I spoke with one of the owners on the phone and he said these units used to sell for $50 or more 3 years ago but are now sold wholesale to the public, but if they get a retail deal which may or may not happen in the coming months they’ll have to raise the price to $40 a unit on the Internet, FWIW. Bottom line, great deal for anyone who smokes or is trying to get rid of cigarette odors.
