OK So I’ve been looking for a new HEPA filter, for a small to med size room, a quiet filter that still moves a decent amount of air. I already own 2 HEPA filters and find them to be a necessity, especially living in a big city, having a cat, hardwood floors, and having allergies. I’ve had a round honeywell HEPA that i’ve used 24/7 for 5 years, it works great, but it’s too loud on all but the lowest speed. Finding a quiet filter was a necessity to me and HEPA was the only way to go after my exhaustive research. I tried buying a very small unit that was advertised as quiet it was a holmes odor grabber plus, the first one was annoyingly noisy, i promptly returned it and decided to give it one more shot and get a replacement, luckily the replacement was reasonably quiet, i’m not sure it will stay that way for long as i’m just not assured by the quality of it and it turned out to be a bit too small for my needs. So i went looking for a larger, but still quiet filter when i found this hunter. I knew they always made the quietest and best ceiling fans and most reviews i read on many of their HEPA models were good. mostly satisfied customers, so i thought i’d buy one (from somewhere reputable where i could return it if i had a problem with it or if it was too noisy). So i bought it today at Lowes, brought it home plugged it in and turned it on high and it’s quieter than my other two even on their lowest settings. Awesome! And it still moves a lot of air. On the low or medium speeds it’s whisper quiet, REALLY! And on high is only barely noticeable. What little sound does come out is very smooth and even, indicating a quality product, it feels well built and it made a very obvious improvement in the air quality of the room in the first 20 minutes. I’m very happy with it, so happy i might just buy another 1 or 2 to replace the noisy units in other parts of the house.
