I had a problem in my house where all of the smells from the kitchen would end up in my room, so my room would smell mostly like burned cooking oil. I wanted to buy a purifier that would take care of odors mainly, and as a bonus minimize dust on my room. I tried Glade smells, but I didn’t like the fact that my clothes would smell like Glade. I had bought a refurbished Sharper Image Bathroom ionic breeze. I wanted to try it out without buying the 300$ unit or paying 60 dollars for this small unit. The unit I bought worked nicely for the first two days, then I couldn’t feel that ionic breeze anymore. It probably was made for very small rooms. I cleaned that filter every other day to see if it worked, but nothing. Then the unit started buzzing. Many people have reported this problem and for some cleaning the unit helped, but not for me. So I decided to buy the Hunter 30025. I bought this unit online at Wal-Mart. Was cheap for 44$. I had also read a few reviews about the other models Hunter had and they were all good so I decided with this brand. I’ve had it running since the day it arrived (about a week ago) on low setting and the room smells clean and fresh all day. If and when the room gets smelly, like when I’m eating or cooking, I just pump it to med and room gets freshen up in no time. My room is about 18ft x 9 ft. I know there are replacement filter costs, but I bet this filter will last for 6 months on my room. Also replacements are not that costly, since its a small unit. Unit has 3 fan speed settings, low med and high. Low is the most quiet. I used high only once when I vacuumed my room. That vacuum left dust smell all over the air. A few minutes in high with the door closed and room is back to new. The unit has a switch for activating the ionizer, which I have on only half of the time. Ionized air smells like purified water for those that wonder. The unit uses one HEPA filter cartridge, which includes several layers of filtering and a layer of activated carbon for odor removal. I am not allergic to dust or pollen, but I wanted an air purifier that would keep my room smelling clean. This unit does the job for me. And for the price that I paid, I think it very worth it to give it a try for anyone needing a cheap, quiet and effective HEPA purifier.
