The Honeywell 17000 claims it is 30% more quiet than ever before. If that’s the case, their previous models must have sounded like a jet engine! This is the noisiest and most annoying of all the models I tried and Honeywell went back to the store for exchange the very next day for a model I was familiar with. This model is as quiet on its high setting as Honeywell is on its lowest setting.
Sadly I bought the Honeywell 17000 after I read all the wonderful comments about it written by my peers on Epinion.com. This air purifier in no way, shape, or form deserves an five star rating. The filters cost $47.00 each for the pre filter and $49.00 for the HEPA filter, and Honey well gives no indication how long the filters are designed to last whereas the Manufacturer I traded up to suggests every three months for the pre filters costing $29.00 for four and every year or so for the HEPA filter that is a rather costly $85.00.
Believe me when I tell you the quietest of the quiet is manufactured by a well known company who’s name begins with the letter "W", and is sold exclusively at Lowes.
