A year ago, my husband and I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter. A week later, I began waking up in the middle of the night coughing uncontrollably and feeling out of breath. I went to the doctor who said it was probably a result of the dog and we should take her back. Well, by that time I was in love with her, so I was quite torn. As a last resort we purchased this particular filter. Almost immediately I noticed a change in the air quality. The dog smell was gone, the dander was diminished greatly and the room smelled cleaner. The Honeywell is remarkably quiet on low speed, but gets a little noisier at the medium and high speeds.

Negatives:

I don’t consider myself a very light sleeper but anything higher than the lowest speed was too loud. Another problem is that it’s tough to find replacement filters. I found one at Home Depot, but I don’t live particularly close to a HD, so the filter has been sitting on top of the fridge for a while now. The other problem I see is that it’s pretty big, so if you are in a small bedroom like I am, it is pretty noticeable.

All in all, I’m still happy we have it, it’s cut down on my allergies and as I said, it works as a great air freshner as well, especially if there are animals in your home.
