Reviews on Honeywell QuietCare 17000 Air Purifier Noisy and unreliable. ok, I'm writing this just before I go return this, why? The noise, and the poor quality of Honeywell. We had another Honeywell air purifi...

I bought this air purifier after EXTENSIVE research on which product would be the best for my household, and which had the highest reviews from other consumers. I read some reviews on Amazon about another product where people complained that the items they bought THROUGH AMAZON were refurbished, used products that came straight from the manufacturer. People were buying (they assumed) new air purifiers, and they were sold used ones that were originally defective in some way.

I heeded the reviews on Amazon and 1) did not buy my from Amazon, and 2) I did not buy the product with the bad reviews. I bought my Quietcare 17000 from a Target store… factory sealed. It had NOT been opened and retaped and put back on the shelf. It only had one undisturbed line of tape on the package.

I bought this as a gift to my mother for Christmas. Today, my father opened it up, and to his surprise… there was no packing material and no instructions. The cord was haphazard in the box, as if it had been tossed in, not nicely wound as you would expect from a brand new product from the factory.

My father opened up the machine in order to look at the filter, (since there were no instructions, he wanted to see how the darn thing worked…) and the pre-filter was FILTHY. It had obviously been used. There was dust, hair and dirt all over the inside of the machine.

When my father told me all of this, I was infuriated! If I hadn’t read the reviews of others (where they received USED and REFURBISHED products) I would have thought that this was an anomaly. However, now that I have experienced it, it is my opinion that is selling a defective product, they refurbish it when people return it, and then resell it as if it were new. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Hopefully my experience will deter others from trusting a brand that cares nothing for its consumers.
