upon further investigation it appears that / may have intentionally misrepresented and applied Darwin Technology ifd patents. Below is my evidence:

/Honewell 60001, hfd 130 models use a unipolar high voltage (-) generator that powers ionizing charging pins at the base of the unit - the (-) air then flows into a filter grid that is also negatively (-) charged and finally passes through the fan and over a (-) ionizing pin. The design is solely unipolar. intense (+)(-) fields are not used in the filter. There is a single neutral ground wire from the ion generator that remains ungrounded and takes the place of what should be a (+)highvoltage source that is poorly located throughout the unit.

i suspect the filter media is not a ifd design: i.e. there are no embedded electrectrode sheets. Darwin Technolgy company indicates: ” Encased between rows of flutes are thin electrode sheets, which generate intense electrical fields. (The polymer flute material is dielectric, which prevents current flowing between electrodes but does not inhibit creation of an intense field within the flutes.) Charged particles are pulled to the walls of the flutes, where they stick. ”

Instead, in the / designs two rods are inserted into a plain plastic matrix lacking encased electrode sheets.; one rod is attached to the sole high voltage (-) source, the other is attached to the ungrounded neutral ground wire. A genuine ifd filter uses a (+)(-)highvoltage layered electrode sheets encased in a dielectric that allow for the intense fields within the flutes.

Furthermore, the packaging on the box idicates a positively charged filter media - the filter media is infact negatively charged. / products claim to be IFD design patents liscensed from Darwin Technolgies - these claims are patently false.

This model is a poor design application, it makes a loud ac hum on low and medium speeds. there are conflicting cadr ratings enviracaire box lists 145 smoke 140 dust 135 pollen

.com and aham.org list 110, 100, 130. said a component change was made to lower the cadr.

the energystar rating is very low at 2.1 cadr/watt. future air cleaners will be judged on their energy efficiency ratings (energystar.gov) http://www.energystar.gov/index.?c=room_airclean.room_airclean

i like an air cleaner to be in the 4 - 15 cadr/watt over its operating range.

i wrote a review for the 6000 which had an ac hum too.

I purchased unit at discount for $89 but i am thinking of returning it. The unit is very hard to get into to clean inside and there is accumulation on the charging plate.

Also, the case itself is secured with torx security screws - you need to buy a special wrench to take it apart to clean it properly -there is a lot of bypassing and accumulation.

I like my air cleaners to be quiet as well and this is not very quiet compared to other air cleaners with much higher cadr/watt. I love my plasmacluster fpn60cx read my review and at http://www.air-purifier-power.com/FPN60CX.html

i caculated the cadr/watt on medium speed to be around 9 and on high speed it is 6 very high! fpn60cx is my fav so far and it has good carbon as well and no ozone plus advanced plasma cluster technology that works! i live in a basement and it keeps down the mildew etc.
