I bought the XL-15 air purifier back in 1997 and have used ever since. I was amazed at how it could ‘clean’ the air, destroy odors, and help me in my allergies. I found that I didn’t sneeze nearly as much and whenever I took it to friends/family houses’ who had cats (I”m extremely allergic to cats), I saw a dramatic drop in allergy symptoms. I have tested that innumerable times and have been convinced, through actually using it as instructed, that this thing DEFINITELY helps allieve me of certain allergic reactions.
I also conducted a few tests, with friends, where it cleared several rooms of cigar smoke….completely! That was amazing as cigar smoke can permiate everything in your apartment/home.
The same goes for disinfecting rooms with mold/mildew and other horrid odors ( thing gym equipment, clothes, SNEAKERS, and I used it on all of the above).
I have recently read some seemingly damning evidence/reviews on this product/technology and I am concerned, but, I remember the information provided ( I went on to become a dealer but didn’t continue that past 2002) and seminars attended that said:
- it produced LESS parts per million of ozone than the EPA declared as dangerous. Ozone is everywhere and you are exposed to it daily…but not in concentrations that are harmful.
- only used it on ‘high setting’ to ‘blast something’ or disinfect it when necessary, otherwise, it is on a moderate setting.
So, I am convinced of its value. Is it a cure all and answer for everything? no, the verdict may still be out in the courts, media, and some scientific arenas, but I fall back on that fact that I, and several friends, experienced a relief in allergic symptoms, noticed a dramatic reduction/elimination of odors, and complete elimination of cigarette/cigar smoke. I’ve even used it in my automobile when liquid protein drink was spilled ( seriously nasty smell, let me tell you), that stuff was nasty but the Alpine unit destroyed the smell. Amazing really.
