I wanted an air purifier that could be used overnight in a medium sized bedroom. Quite operation was essential. I purchased a different brand first but returned it because the airflow made a whistling sound. The Hunter QuietFlow has worked flawlessly and quietly (just a low sound of moving air) for a year now.
I read several reviews of HEPA air purifiers but did not find them very helpful. In a relatively clean house it is really not obvious whether these things are making the air significantly cleaner or not. I continue to use it in hope that it is minimizing sinus/allergy symptoms.
Glad that I did not spend lots of money on the original unit (about $55 at the other big home store) but am not thrilled at having to buy a new filter for just about the same price.
