The price : $59.00We recently moved to a new house located just off a dusty dirt road. Add two dogs to the mix, and you can just imagine the dirty air I must contend with.
I’ve never used an air cleaner before, but decided I just HAD to do something. In…
About a year and half ago I developed breathing problems. I was short of breath and my nose was always stuffed up no matter what time of year it was and I had a very painful dry cough all of the time. I went to a doctor, actually several doctors, who…
Well, with allergy season just around the corner, I decided it was time to look into one of these air purifiers. Not only am I allergic to pollen, but Im also sensitive to dust and somewhat allergic to our beloved cat. It was more money than I wanted…
My wife suffers from allergies, and before we bought the Honeywell model 17000 air cleaner, she would go for weeks having trouble sleeping because of the coughing and sneezing.
The night we "installed" the air cleaner, she got a…
A year ago, my husband and I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter. A week later, I began waking up in the middle of the night coughing uncontrollably and feeling out of breath. I went to the doctor who said it was probably a result of the dog and…
The Honeywell 17000 is our second Honeywell HEPA cleaner. The other worked fine over 4 or 5 years. My wife has intermittent allergies and a HEPA cleaner seems to help during bad times. We do not use the cleaner every day. We use it when my wife senses…
The Honeywell 17000 claims it is 30% more quiet than ever before. If that’s the case, their previous models must have sounded like a jet engine! This is the noisiest and most annoying of all the models I tried and Honeywell went back to the store…
I am updating this review (originally written Oct. 2000) because this little air cleaner has been running for over a year now without any problems! It’s still quiet and effective.
My doctor told me to buy it! After numerous sinus infections…
Our doctor recommended this model and we found it at a great price at Costco. He said it would not only clean our air, but it would also reduce our Northern California humidity indoors. He was right!
I used to wake up with a runny nose most…
These air cleaners really do work very well, we purchased 3 of them, 1 for each occupied bedroom. The operational cost of these air cleaners however is astronomical, this year compared to last year our electrical bill has consistently been 50%-68% higher…
ok, I’m writing this just before I go return this, why? The noise, and the poor quality of Honeywell. We had another Honeywell air purifier, and it died after just 2 years. So I didn’t want another… well… that’s tough because all I could find are…
My fiance has allergies like crazy! So I decided to purchase this filter for her over a year ago. It has helped a great deal with her allergy attacks, which means that she gets to spend more time with me instead of being knocked out with all of her…
I bought this air purifier after EXTENSIVE research on which product would be the best for my household, and which had the highest reviews from other consumers. I read some reviews on Amazon about another Honeywell product where people complained that …
I believe the air cleaner is working, but it’s hard to tell. It gives off a strange chemical odor and has for the several months I’ve been running it (continuously at first). I no longer use it because of this. I contacted Honeywell, and they suggested I run it outside for about an hour, which I did with no results. It seems like the pre-filter must have been coated with too many chemicals. I’m reluctant to go out and spend good money after bad and try a new pre-filter, but right now the purifier is just taking up room. Anyone else have this problem?
I have not had good luck with Honeywell products. They do enjoy good name recognition and many people think Honeywell products mean good quality. That used to be the case, but Honeywell is cheapening many of its products and this is no exception. I bought one and so did a friend. His lasted about 1 year, then the motor stopped working. Mine is 3 years old, still working, but Honeyell discontinued the HEPA filter designed for this unit. The only available HEPA now is one that fits several other units and has two crappy foam spacers to make it fit this unit. This is a classic example of Honeywell cutting back on the different kinds of parts they have to make in order to save money. The new style filters don’t fit properly and much of the air sucked into the unit bypasses the filters entirely. What a joke. I will never buy another Honeywell product again. I work for Honeywell and I can tell you first hand, that you should avoid their products in my opinion.
