Purify your air electronically. Hamilton Beach’s Electronic AirPurifier features three-way protection provided by the HEPA filter, carbon pre-filter and UV germicidal light. The UV light employs the same technology used in hospitals to help kill bacteria, viruses and mold and prevent their growth. The carbon pre-filter absorbs odors. Filter indicators show you when to check the HEPA or carbon filter. An infrared light sensor monitors your air quality, and then the AirSmart system monitor displays the data. Three power settings offer you maximum control over your air. The HEPA filter is easily replaced, and the grille is easy to clean with soapy water. UL listed. 3-year LMW. Made in China.
The price : $25.00Bought about 2 years ago, to cope with 2 cats. It does a great job of removing the dander from the air, and no allergy symtoms were noticed. Ciculates air around room due to its design, if placed on floor near center of one wall.
Replacement filters are expensive, though -especially the HEPA filter cartridge. The carbon pre-filter seems to require replacement monthly, due to dust and pet hair, while the HEPA filter lasts about three months. After 3 months of regular use (about 30 minutes per day), we often notice a funny smell to the air coming out of the filter. Replacing the carbon filter alone doesn’t help, so we replace it along with the HEPA element and we’re breathing fresh air again. Replacement filters are becoming hard to find.
Our estimated replacement filter cost is $250 per year, but YMMV.
